I love that word, wanderlust. Fits me perfectly. I love to travel, go on long trips or short day trips. Visiting new far-off places or just strolling through close-by neighborhoods to look at homes and gardens or see what we can find that's new or interesting. I thought I'd try to start doing a wanderlust post every now and then. Just one or two pictures from an every normal day to neat trips we're on. Sometimes spectacular, other times more mundane.

This is were we often buy for our collection of Catrina dolls. Do you wanderlust, too?

That was the theme for little sis' birthday party last Friday. We invited all the girls in her class over to the place where she does art every Thursday. They played games, decorated bags with ribbons, faux flowers, beads, sequins iron-ons, buttons and whatever else the studio had in its boxes of crafty materials. They painted ceramic figurines and ran screaming and dancing. Smacking their frosting covered lips while giggling and eating cupcakes with a rainbow of skittle fruity deliciousness on top, had croissant sandwiches (shaped like a rainbows) and picked fruit off the rainbow inspired fruit platter...all in all it was a success!
Happy birthday little sis- your "girls who like rainbows" party was as fun and colorful as you are!

Simply ArTistiC's second round of atc goodness for me was another Alice in Wonderland theme taken from a gothie-theatrical make-up picture. I embroidered this Queen of Hearts face on the front and a felt and embroidery lipstick on the back. Come play along with us and do an atc swap, details HERE and HERE!

Here in Mexico it's the 200 year bicentennial. The streets are filled with people dancing, there are parades, fireworks, canons bellowing and parties all over. We stayed inside today because it's TOO crazy with drunk driving and some crowds of craziness. We had some friends over to have veggie enchiladas, carne asada and ensalada...and lots of margaritas... this year all the stores and such are decorated with the red, white and green and colorful flags and bigotes (mustaches) all over the place. We agree, bigotes are que bueno!

I believe I've mentioned before my obsession with lists? I make them about everyday about errands I need to run, things I need to buy, schedules to complete, it makes me feel more organized and centered. Sometimes I look back though and I laugh at the things I actually wrote down "pick up girls from school," "buy new shoes, size 7. " Really? Size 7, did I forget what size I wore once I arrived at the store? Well, luckily earlier I wrote it down on my handy-dandy list...
The girls and I have a thing about finding lists and reading them. We love the abstract voyeurism we get from peeking into a strangers life. Whenever we find a list, we love inventing who the people would be, what they look like, where they're from. Their handwriting and the items on the list, it's like a peephole into a stranger's life. Big sis has quite the collection of discarded lists we've found. We also love discarded passport photos, but that's another post.
Have you ever seen the book, Milk, Eggs, Vodka, by Bill Keaggy? It's a fun collection of grocery lists discarded by people who from their list, you can guess a lot about them. This one below is obviously a lady PMSing, and look at the rest, the author makes great observations on each.
Well, yesterday we found this discarded list in a shopping cart. We can surmise a muchacha (housekeeper here in Mexico) wrote the list, notice some of the spelling. Pollo, is "poyo" spelled phonetically, as well as a couple others, Clinex, sanahorias instead if zanahorias (carrots), and I love the tampox, too. Bless her heart, she's a good little list maker!
I'll have to show a few of the other choice lists we've found someday.
Have you ever found any funny or interesting lists?

While looking over different Flickr groups that have to do with fashion or clothing+ photography, I stumbled upon this group and thought I'd share, Converse Wedding. Apparently there is a large group of lovers that wear their Chuck Taylors' in their wedding photos. All the more power to them, I love fun, funky, original ideas for what sometimes is the utterly proper, traditional day...
(Jen, I could totally see you like this. Above, Jen, above, not directly below. No.)
I love the bride in the cherry red dress, too.
Do you have any fun or different wedding stories?

I remember my Granny had a similar cake holder as this. It was red and white striped with a metal clasp/handle. I don't bake cakes as much as I bake cupcakes, let's face it, cupcakes are the cutest, most convenient, don't over-do it mini cakes. I'd like to carry this to the next bake-sale and smugly reveal my frosted minicakes underneath the pretty decorated tin top. What about you?

Seven years ago I entered the hospital on Labor Day, in labor. The nurses loved to point that out, "Hey Mom! You're in labor on Labor Day!" with big grins. Ha! I laughed, laughed and laughed...(not really.) But little sis' delivery was a snap I must say, I've had workouts harder. And just like my pregnancy and delivery with her, such a breeze, she is like that today, a breeze of fresh air and a radiating sunshine that makes people who sit with her feel the innocence, kindness and generosity that is little Coco's true spirit. She makes me laugh everyday. She's a riot. The things that come out of her mouth are made for a larger audience. She is goofy and yet witty, she belongs under the big top or on stage. She makes me think everyday. For all the innocence she possesses, she equally possesses great insights for her young age. She makes me proud everyday, she's probably one of the kindest people I've ever met.
We baked cookies for breakfast in her new handmade apron...then we went to the movies and saw the new Tinkerbelle movie and walked through the Aviary in Polanco...
Then we had a BBQ with friends to celebrate her lucky number 7...she dressed in her best Princess costume...
And ended the night with the tradition of reading "On The Day You Were Born",,, I bawl, they laugh.
Next week is the party with her girl classmates at a ceramics studio, the theme is " girls who love rainbows" she said when we picked out her plates and favor bags...pictures to follow later.
Happy birthday little one, we love you more than you'll ever know!!!
